History
Tylden Reed left school in 1958 and joined a leading Watchmaker and Jeweller in Maidstone Kent as an apprentice Watchmaker. He attended the Hackney Technical College in London studying watchmaking gaining first class passes in all three years.
In 1962 Tylden was awarded a fellowship of the British Horological Institute and later was voted onto the National Council of the B.H.I. where he served for a number of years.
During the early '60s he joined The Rolex Watch Company in their service division at Bexley in Kent.
In 1966 Tylden started his own business as a trade watch repairer. In 1971 he opened his shop in the picturesque village of Charing, close to the North Downs and Pilgrims Way, in Kent. Over the last 40 years he has built up a reputation and a client base that covers the whole of the U.K. and beyond into Europe, Australasia and the U.S.A. Tylden attended a seminar held by ROLEX to up date him in the latest models and methods.
In 2005 after over 34 years running a shop in Charing, Tylden decided to take a sideways step and has moved premises. Now almost all his work arrives be post allowing, where possible, a more flexible work pattern - though at the moment he is putting in a fifty hour week because of the amount of work he is receiving!
The vast majority of work that comes his way is Rolex and with his connections with Rolex and his stock of Rolex material he is well capable of undertaking most models.
Tylden is not prepared to sell Rolex material unless as part of a full service/restoration.
HOBBIES:
As a radio amateur Tylden (call sign M0MSF) finds time to call friends around the world.

Brass bands have always been part of his life, most notably playing in the 'Hoo Band' near Rochester under the world renowned composer and arranger of Brass Band music 'Eric Ball'.

Most free time is spent as a Parish Councillor, a most interesting and time consuming job.
